So who knows if this is all true but supposed details of the next major revision of Android, called Gingerbread, have emerged. Eldar Murtazin of Mobile-Review.com (A Russian site) revealed some rumored information about Gingerbread on a podcast. According to Mr. Murtazin, Gingerbread will release in October, followed by handsets coming in November. Only phones that have 1GHz processors, 512MB of RAM, and 3.5″ or higher screen will be able to run it. So let's see, Google's Nexus, Samsung's Galaxy S, Moto's Droid X, and Sony's XPERIA X10 should all be capable of Gingerbread. When and how it's pushed to them is another big question mark! Mr. Murtazin also says that anything with 4 inches or more will be able to use 1280×760 resolution, which in theory should open the door for better tablet performance. Thus far, Android Tablets have been intriguing, but not not much competition to Apple's iPad.
Another rumor being reported by Android and Me is that Samsung is working on a Google experience phone for Google. As a current Nexus user, who was really hoping this new business model would work, this really excites me. Again, these are just rumors, but this phone is said to have an AMOLED screen and Mastercard's Paypass technology basically to let you do all your shopping simply by waving your phone.
As far as what is included in this version? Cleaner icons, and different color notification bar, and a cleaner user interface seems to be the only thing anyone is talking about. There is some talk about new buttons and checkboxes, kinetic scrolling similar to the iPhone with it's "bounce" when you reach the end of a screen. HTC's sense has been referenced as far as the look and feel of the interface.
There are rumor's too, that WiFi calling will be supported with Google's "Voice" app for VoIP.

If this is all there is to Gingerbread, it makes sense that this be called 2.3, and not 2.5 or even 3.0. But at this point, this is all Rumor and other features features very well could be included, just not announced or leaked. I'm betting that by November, we will all have a better feel for just what Gingerbread is!
